The TRR trip down the Salmon River was amazing. It was the perfect opportunity to practice what we’ve learned in the classes on an actual river and still feel safe with experienced kayakers and guides watching your every move.
What really made the trip special were the connections to other people on the trip. As a Veteran, I know we can be a bit antisocial at times. Honestly, it even made me hesitant to attend. I’m glad I was up for the challenge. TRR has a really great group of people genuinely interested in helping you grow and heal. After attending, I feel that I’ve made new friends that I could count on.
I end the trip feeling very accomplished after paddling myself for the full 102 miles of the trip, running a class 3 rapid in a hard-shell kayak, and performing a bow rescue in white water. I made it down the river through the obstacles and made some great friends in the process. Thank you Team River Runner and donors for this amazing opportunity!
