When I started out on this adventure I began with packing. As I packed I took a lot of deep breaths, what am I getting myself into? How will I be able to maneuver camping, kayaking and 16 other women. Anxiety through the roof! And to top it off I would be on this trip during a bittersweet anniversary that could trigger some silent traumas.
But, what I encountered changed my life forever. I was surrounded by some of the most beautiful people who did not look at me as person with a disability. They looked at me as “Equal”
The best damn thing about this adventure were the TRR & ASA volunteers who DID NOT put me in a corner and say, maybe you should not try this activity. They looked at me and said “let’s go. ”
I enjoyed activities that I never dreamed I would be able to do. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to experience a memorable adventure. And also for giving me the opportunity to look within myself and find a part of me that I had lost.
