This year we are upping the challenge another notch by paddling to and camping on ….
(drum roll…)
…Stockton Island! This will be a 10-mile paddle from Red Cliff marina, passing by Basswood and Hermit Islands along the way. The trip will be Saturday August 29 to Thursday Sept. 3 (possibly Friday, Sept. 4, depending on conditions). Once again we will camp at Little Sand Bay Saturday night before launching Sunday morning.
But that’s not all. There’s another exciting announcement about this year’s trip. For the first time, we will have a camp cook — Jacob Tarlton — who will lead preparation of group breakfasts and dinners while we’re on Stockton. I have kayaked many times with Jacob and last year I saw his culinary talents at work during a paddle club trip in the Apostle Islands so I invited him to join our TRR 2020 trip as our lead camp cook. This means participants won’t have to plan individual breakfasts and dinners, although you will still need to provide your own lunches and snacks. You’ll also need to tell us about any food restrictions you may have.
LOCATION: Apostle Islands, Lake Superior, Northern Wisconsin
